10 Retailers Outperforming Their Beleaguered Peers

Many U.S. retailers are hurting, repelling investors. But given the wide range of retail companies, some are doing just fine. Michael Brush outlined retailers’ challenges in a story Thursday, and he listed five retail stocks that Goldman Sachs analysts suggest investors avoid. A big problem for traditional mall retailers is reduced foot traffic, as a new generation of shoppers takes advantage of the convenience and better pricing of Internet retailers. Another area of concern is retailers’ inability to keep pace or match prices with “fast-fashion” retailers. Digging further, Goldman Sachs’ specialty-apparel analyst, Lindsay Drucker Mann, made an interesting point about Lululemon Athletica Inc. which Goldman Sachs rates “sell.” Read more at Market Watch.
