ADIDAS, PHARRELL WILLIAMS UNVEIL NEWEST COLLAB

by Stephen Garner

Adidas has teamed up again with Pharrell Williams for their newest collaborative collection. Called the “Pharrell Williams Triple Black Collection,” the line focuses on heritage silhouettes and forward-thinking innovation in an all-black color palette.

Reimagining Adidas’ most beloved silhouettes across performance and lifestyle categories, the duo unveiled an expansive range of new icons for today including Originals, Terrex, and Basketball footwear and apparel.

This PW Triple Black launch builds from the inaugural collection last year, an architected kit of reimagined essential staples for everyday life. Equipped for any adventure, from the court to the trail to the street, the collection reflects a modern lifestyle and a new generation of icons.

“Creativity knows no boundaries, and new icons are those undefined by boundaries,” said Williams. “This collection reflects those beliefs, paying homage to Adidas’ classic silhouettes and reimaging them in a different context.”

The PW Triple Black Collection’s campaign features professional skateboarder Na-Kel Smith and model Jordan Daniels, who embody the collection’s celebration of new icons. Both individuals are undefined by boundaries and multi-hyphenates that influence sport, fashion, and culture in their own respective ways. They reflect the collection’s essence with an ambitious and authentic spirit. The expansive offering of menswear and womenswear is showcased in a variety of styling configurations, highlighting Williams’ design ethos that melds Adidas’ technology with a transformative aesthetic lens.

The collection spotlights two silhouettes that have emerged as icons from the longstanding Adidas and Pharrell Williams partnership– the PW HU NMD and PW 0-60. These classics are reimagined in all-black colorway with striking, 3M hits, and co-branded details throughout. The PW HU NMD sneaker features the words “Breathe” and “Thought” printed on each upper, a signature Pharrell Williams touch.

The second part of the collection introduces trail-ready Adidas footwear and apparel silhouettes that are designed for seamless transition throughout the most extreme elements. In the signature all-black colorway, the Terrex Freehiker C.RDY hiking boots and the Terrex Trail Maxer Mid GTX sneakers are complemented by reflected “Humanrace” logos.

The Terrex Freehiker C.RDY hiking boot is architected with a Gore-Tex layer in an advanced high-cut design that seals the foot completely at the ankles, resulting in total insulation from cold and moisture. The legendary Continental rubber outsole provides premiere traction on rugged terrain. The Boost midsole balances the sneaker’s structure, providing smooth, competent cushioning.

Complementing the boots, the Terrex Trail Maxer Mid GTX is a lightweight hiking alternative footwear option for fast-paced days and mixed conditions. The EVA midsole offers step-absorbing, durable comfort while the Traxion outsole maximizes grip in all directions with lugs designed for rugged trails, and anywhere the journey leads.

The all-black waterproof down-filled Terrex MYSHELTER jacket is inspired by the sub-zero winters of New York and features Adidas insulating technology of overlapping sections of HyperDRY Goose Down that keeps the warmth in and the cold out. Designed to withstand the elements and adapt to environments, the jacket includes a removable, reversible weatherproof vest and internal carry straps for heat management.

In addition, the collection features Pharrell Williams’ take on two Adidas Basketball silhouettes. Both the BYW 2.0 sneaker and Donovan Mitchell’s signature D.O.N Issue #2 silhouette are made up in monochromatic black colorways with reflective details and co-branded hits throughout.

The second drop of the Pharrell William’s Triple Black Collection launches globally on March 19th and is available through adidas.com/pharrell, Confirmed, and select retailers.
