ALANUI LOOKS TO SOUTH AMERICA FOR FALL ‘21

by Stephen Garner

Alanui embarks on a fall/winter 2021 adventure in a world full of colors, patterns, precious details, and absolute fun. This season, the Italian luxury brand takes an imaginary road trip across South America. Up and down the Andes, in the Atacama Desert, or on the Rainbow Mountain.

The dress code? Don’t forget to pack one of its new, warm, and comfortable knitted sets: lounge joggers and hoodies, but also cardigans and blazers, that are matched with coordinated pants and wrap skirts worked in a range of yarns, from super soft alpaca to regenerated cashmere and wool.

This season, along with a new patchwork interpretation of the bandana motifs and of the tie-dye matched with Aran textures, Alanui enriches them with an embroidered intarsia Andine scene; a desert landscape under moonlight; images of a sweet alpaca in love, as well as a human chain of cute characters telegraphic a message of unity and universal love.

While cable knitted styles feature a kaleidoscopic look, alpaca outerwear designs, to wrap around the body with a cozy touch, show a furry look. The season’s Andine inspiration also meets Alanui’s best friends, The Peanuts, on a cardigan crafted from extra-fine merino wool.

Leopard motifs are introduced here and there on hoodies, patchwork V-neck sweaters, as well as loose joggers, while long dresses in regenerated cashmere, cut in fluid silhouettes and enriched with cut-out details, are juxtaposed to denim styles, including distresses pants, fringed shorts, and tomboy vests presented in two washes.

Accessories stand out with fringed and beaded slippers or loafers created in collaboration with Suicoke. But also, wool chenille headpieces, scarves, gloves, and crochet bags continue to enrich the collection along with the new hand-knitted crochet charms featured on recycled plastic snap hooks.
