Alpha Design Group has announced that it has hired former Nordstrom clothing buyer Tom Mintal as its new VP of merchandising. He will be based in Chicago and will be responsible for developing Alpha’s JB Britches, Di Milano, MacAlan 1881 Duckie Brown Gentlemen collections.

“After 23 years at Nordstrom, I am looking forward to learning a new side of the men’s business,” Mintal said in a statement. “It’s thrilling to be a part of the ADG team and collaborating with so many industry professionals from mills to factories, many of whom I have enjoyed working with throughout the course of my career.”

“Tom is one of the most talented merchants I have ever had the pleasure to work with,” said Alpha president Ross Gershkowitz. “He brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and a great skill set that will certainly enhance our development across all brands.”

Mintal began his career at Marshall Field’s in Chicago and has also held positions at Lord & Taylor and Neiman Marcus. He was most recently national multi-channel men’s tailored clothing buyer at Nordstrom.

Alpha Design Group announced the hiring of Lori Pulichino as VP last week.

Gershkowitz and JB Britches CEO Ara Bedrosian formed Alpha Design Group earlier this year to operate JB Britches, the trouser and sportcoat brand Di Milano, MacAlan 1881, the new Duckie Brown Gentlemen brand and a large private label business.
