ARE THERE ANY NEW STYLES FROM EUROPE THAT OFFER FRESHNESS FOR CUSTOMERS?

by Steve Pruitt

StevePruitt-FEATURED.jpgQ: Earlier this year you suggested that menswear merchants return to the Italian shows to find new product. Have you been to the European shows, and are there any new styles that offer something fresh for customers?

Steve Pruitt: Good question. We just spent a week in London and Paris looking at stores and the fashion that is evolving now. I always find it enlightening to look at different markets that push fashion forward.

If you can, I suggest you take the time to experience new markets. Look for the new brands and ideas that are being developed, not only in the stores and showrooms but also in the streets. Here is a trick we used this trip: We identified customers that really seemed to be on top of fashion and watched how they responded to the presentations we were tracking. Travel well.

The collection is a must see and provides retailers with and opportunity to distance themselves from the extremely challenging competitive landscape they find themselves facing these days….
