January 10, 2018 is the day when all stores’ bills come due and must be paid. Most retailers will be able to generate plenty of cash in December and can pay their vendors. However, there are invariably a few retailers who will struggle and not enjoy the sales momentum they anticipated during the holiday selling period. They may not generate the anticipated cash flow. They will have to scramble to pay their suppliers by January 10, 2018. Aside from not meeting their earnings target, these retailers may well have to declare insolvency, a.k.a bankruptcy.
