Away Luggage Flies Past TSA With Removable Battery

by MR Magazine Staff

With the need to stay plugged in before takeoff, frequent fliers are turning to more tech-savvy luggage to accompany them on their trek across the airport. While smart luggage brands are facing TSA roadblocks, Away, a luxury line of bags is compliant with the latest restrictions that require luggage with batteries to be removable. Carry-ons, like Away’s, are allowed so long as the battery does not exceed the 100-watt limit and can be removed from the bag. These regulations come as the FAA reports 191 incidents of lithium batteries catching fire, smoke or exploding on board aircraft and in airports since 1991. See more at Forbes.
