Balenciaga has opened its second store in Toronto. The 3,326 square foot store, located at the Yorkdale Shopping Centre, is the luxury fashion brand’s first freestanding store in Canada.

The new shop showcases the brand’s men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, shoes, and accessories, displayed using a new system of racks and shelves.

The open-air layout and soft lilac logo-carved carpet undercut rough pebble finishes, extruded aluminum shelving, seating inspired by public transportation, and utilitarian track lighting. Racks lining the space display a store-specific selection of the collections.

Location-specific elements reflect ideas of combining both industrial and service-oriented environments and juxtaposing interior tropes with exterior textures.

Further, a new sculpture created by artist Tobias Spichtig specifically for this store will be installed after the opening, part of a worldwide project placing unique art pieces in freestanding Balenciaga stores.
