Banana Republic is teaming up with Postmates to launch its first-ever on-demand delivery as a part of the retailer’s “Buy Online, Pickup In-Store” capability.

The shopping service enables customers to purchase items on BananaRepublic.com and pick them up in stores in a flash. With the added benefit of on-demand delivery exclusively powered by Postmates, Banana Republic customers in New York City and Southern California can now have their items brought right to their door. Delivery will be free on these orders within the delivery radius.

Customers within the delivery radius who use this new product can place their orders on BananaRepublic.com and select the Buy Online, Pickup In-Store option. They will be notified when their order is ready for pickup and can select the option for a Postmate to pick up the items on their behalf and deliver it straight to the customer’s doorstep.

“We are excited to introduce this partnership with Postmates as we continue to offer our customers convenient ways to shop,” said Mary Alderete, chief marketing officer at Banana Republic. “Our customers are curious, connected and out in the world and we’re offering them a modern retail experience. Same-day delivery is a natural next step for us as we’re seeing continued success with our Buy Online Pick Up In-Store program.”

“Our Delivery as a Service product is growing quickly, in fact, it’s grown more than 300 percent year over year,” added Vivek Patel, COO of Postmates. “With clothing orders up 60 percent, we know that more retailers will be looking to Postmates to provide convenience through delivery to their customers. We are thrilled to partner with Banana Republic to meet the demand of consumers as they evolve the way they shop.”

Banana Republic’s fellow Gap Inc. sister store Old Navy rolled out a similar service in December.
