BEN SHERMAN DEBUTS ECO-CONSCIOUS EYEWEAR COLLECTION

by Stephen Garner

Ben Sherman has launched its new eco-conscious eyewear collection.

The new Ben Sherman Eco Green eyewear collection debuts with 12 optical styles and 4 sunglasses, and includes details and styling inspired by the brand’s clothing and history. The shapes are based around four Ben Sherman inspired themes: Ivy League prep, military silhouettes, iconic looks of the ‘60s, and British youth culture.

Featuring a mix of trendy color accents, cool translucent coloration, two-toned metal, angular detailing, lightweight profiles, and qualitative texture, the Ben Sherman touch is thoughtfully incorporated into every piece. Key signature detailing includes Ben Sherman script logo on the outside temples near the hinge break, the military/mod target placed on the outer temple tips, a paddle-shaped temple designed for a vintage vibe, and the Ben Sherman British house check pattern on the inside temple tips in select styles.

The entire eyewear collection was created using eco-conscious materials. The bio-based acetate is derived from plant material with the same quality as regular acetate but is produced from renewable sources which break down more easily and lessens the harmful effects on the planet. The metal styles are made of stainless steel – not only is this metal corrosion-resistant, durable, long-lasting, and 100 percent recyclable, but all stainless steel is made up of 60 percent recycled material. The demo lenses used are bio-degradable, naturally, and completely decomposing in just five years (compared to regular plastic demo lens that take over 1,000 years to disintegrate).

The Ben Sherman TAC polarized sunglasses are bio-based and produced from organic cotton and wood fibers. The lenses are lightweight, impact-resistant, and pass the REACH screening test for targeted SVHC (substances of high concern), and filter 100 percent UVA/UVB light. The nose pads are produced without harmful chemicals such as BPA. The Ben Sherman Eco Green promise extends to the case which is crafted from 100 percent post-consumer recycled plastic bottles into a recycled felt pouch.

The Ben Sherman Eco Green sun and optical collections will be available on bensherman.com from late September and also available globally for wholesale.
