BERGDORF GOODMAN UNVEILS HOLIDAY WINDOWS, INITIATIVES

by Stephen Garner

This holiday season, Bergdorf Goodman was inspired to celebrate the goodness that is all around us – goodness that exists in the values that we embody as a community and in the actions that we take to support it. It’s in this spirit that the luxury retailer has launched “Bergdorf Goodness,” a campaign that shares this message across all its platforms.

The Fifth Avenue windows at Bergdorf Goodman have long held their place in the iconography of New York City holidays. This season, the windows make a splash in a different way, with each window of the dazzling installation capturing a different core value that is emblematic of goodness: love, hope, harmony, joy, peace, equality, kindness, and unity. The values are literally and figuratively reflected onto all those who view them, as the three-dimensional letters are faced in polychromatic acrylic mirror. David Hoey, senior director of visual presentation and longtime window dresser at Bergdorf Goodman, and his team of artisans have conceptualized and created the illustrious windows to deliver this message in an impactful way.

In keeping with these core values, Bergdorf Goodman believes strongly in investing in its community for the future. The retailer maintains that everyone should have equal access to basic rights and resources. As such, Bergdorf’s has partnered with City Harvest and the National CARES Mentoring Movement, two organizations that are working to level the playing field and fight against food insecurity and inequities around social and educational infrastructures for young Black people respectively.

Bergdorf Goodman is also launching the “Goodness Giving” holiday initiative. Beginning November 23rd, the retailer will be donating 3 percent of sales every Monday through December, up to $100,000, to the “Goodness Giving Fund” benefitting City Harvest and National CARES Mentoring Movement. Bergdorf’s has partnered with over 70 brands that will join it in supporting the Goodness Giving Fund through an additional percentage of sales every Monday throughout December until Christmas.

Customers will also have an opportunity to donate to the fund through various BG channels both online and in-store.
