BLOOMINGDALE’S TO GO ‘OUT OF THIS WORLD’ FOR HOLIDAY CAMPAIGN, WINDOWS

by Stephen Garner

Bloomingdale’s looks to the stars and draws galactic inspiration for the iconic retailer’s holiday campaign, An Out of This World Holiday.

Bloomingdale’s will see the campaign come to life with one-of-a-kind in-store activations and a supernova holiday window unveiling performance by award-winning singer John Legend. Legend will perform material from the expanded version of his first Christmas album, A Legendary Christmas: The Deluxe Edition which is due out on November 8th.

The window displays will be unveiled on Friday, November 22nd at 6:15 pm with a performance by award-winning artist John Legend. This is the second time Legend has performed at the unveiling tradition which in the past has welcomed performers including Idina Menzel, Sara Bareilles, Zendaya and Tony Bennett.

Those unable to join the unveiling in person will be able to tune into Facebook live to view the performance in real-time. After the unveiling customers are invited to join the in-store festivities as Bloomingdale’s 59th Street celebrates Like No Other Store in the World.

An Out Of This World Holiday campaign brings the mystery of the cosmos to earth and comes to life through iridescent holographic shopping bags, gift boxes, and a special catalog featuring Bloomingdale’s favorite items of the season.

Also, this winter the Bloomingdale’s 59th Street flagship and select stores nationwide will present free in-store, interactive activations including Ralph’s Winter Wonderland polar ice bar, Daily Harvest Latte Counter coffee sampling, virtual reality space experiences and the GE “C-ing is Believing Experience” which features over 800 C by GE full Color Smart bulbs for a journey to the cosmos. Visitors can also meet Santa Claus and his elves through December 23rd at the Bloomingdale’s holiday shop.

“We gravitated toward this theme because Bloomingdale’s is all about bringing the best product to our customers in fun and exciting ways. What could be more exciting and whimsical than imagining how our out of this world product would come to life among the stars,” said Frank Berman, Bloomingdale’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer. “Beyond gifts we are excited to see this theme in interactive experiences throughout our stores and a holiday window unveiling making visiting Bloomingdale’s not just a place to shop but a destination.”
