BTFL STUDIO TEAMS UP WITH PORTLAND-BASED BOUTIQUE MACHUS

by Stephen Garner

BTFL Studio is revisiting its coveted patchwork silhouettes to celebrate the opening of Machus’ new retail location at 1101 SW Alder Street in Portland, Oregon.

For this collection, BTFL revisits its popular recycled Indian patchwork garments, which have been a staple in its last four deliveries. Not only have the patchwork pieces been bestsellers, they have also touched on the brand’s commitment to working with artisans dedicated to their craft while finding the beauty in the imperfections of handmade textiles.

The exclusive collection is comprised of four one-of-a-kind pieces: a co-branded hand-stenciled tee, handmade and embroidered recycled Indian patchwork shorts, center seam hoodie distressed and repaired with recycled Indian patchwork fabric, and sweat shorts that are distressed and repaired with recycled Indian patchwork fabric.

“Bringing in small, artisanal brands is one of my favorite aspects of the business,” said Justin Machus, owner of Machus. “BTFL encompasses everything that I love about emerging brands; Amazing attention to detail, beautiful fabrics, and a modern approach to a classic look. Working with brands akin to BTFL is exactly where I want to live in the saturated world of collaborations. It’s not about numbers, deadlines, and analytics and that makes it feel that much more organic.”

The collection, which retails between $135 and $375, is now available at Machus’ boutique and online store.
