CAMILLE TAGLE OFFICIALLY STEPS INTO INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ROLE AT FABSCRAP

by Brett Edward Stout

Camille Tagle, Fabscrap’s Co-Founder and Creative Director, has officially stepped into the role of interim Executive Director, following the departure of Founder and CEO Jessica Schreiber. Fabscrap, a non-profit focused on recycling and reusing materials in the interior design, fashion, and entertainment industry, will be temporarily helmed by Tagle. At the same time, they look for a permanent successor to fill the role.

Starting as just an idea, Fabscrap has expanded its operations to include sorting, resale, and shredding, saving over two million pounds of fabric from landfills. Additionally, it has provided fabric reuse and recycling services to 881 fashion, interior, and entertainment companies.

“Fabscrap and our mission is a true labor of love for me,” said Tagle. “I am especially driven by the team and community that makes our much-needed work possible, and will continue to devote myself to leading them and the organization through this transition, ensuring that the spirit and heart that Jess and I have championed since day one remain alive in every step we take forward.”

Fabscrap’s plans include the exploration of numerous opportunities to expand the organization’s ability to make reusable materials accessible to as many makers as possible; to further connect with organizations and businesses in NYC; to grow its team; to find space that better meets the demand for the organization’s operations, events, and community; and continue to provide industry leadership in textile waste reduction.

“Though there is transition in leadership, the strategic vision and mission of the organization is still very clear,” said Schreiber, who maintains a position on Fabscrap’s Board. “Our Board and team are aligned, and the organization is in Camille’s capable and dedicated hands as we seek my full-time, long-term replacement.”

“We hope those passionate about our cause will apply for this uniquely impactful position,” said Schreiber, emphasizing that Fabscrap continues to grow exponentially as the organization plays a critical role in the sustainable management of fabrics. “Beyond our search for a new Executive Director, we hope that our team’s continued work and our demonstrated impact inspires people to get more involved and/or contribute to our fundraising initiatives during this period to support the next chapter!”

“Jess and Camille have set a high standard of leadership for Fabscrap,” said David Hirschler, Fabscrap Board President. “We are taking our time as a Board to select the right successor who will pick up the baton and lead the organization’s growth into the future. We seek a leader who can continue to manage and grow operations while also speaking to the impact and critical need for textile reuse and recycling infrastructure, prepare and inform policy, and research, develop, share and support innovative solutions for textile waste reduction.”

The Fabscrap Board will be interviewing candidates through the summer and hope to announce a new ED by the end of 2025.
