DOCKERS DEBUTS SECOND COLLABORATION WITH LIFESTYLE BRAND MALBON GOLF

by John Russel Jones

Although golf has come a long way from what Rosie O’Donnell once referred to as “Men in ugly pants, walking,” the opportunities for tasteful sartorial expression (sorry John Daly) on the greens haven’t evolved that much in recent years. A simple pair of chinos, a polo shirt, and a ½-zip — all most likely executed with stretch and other performance characteristics — have become the country club version of a banker’s suit: safe, reliable, and something no guy under 30 years old wants to be caught dead wearing.

As a nod to this next generation of golf and its current cultural influence, Dockers and Malbon Golf have created a second collaboration capsule that men of any age will want to wear both on and off the links.

The new iteration of Dockers x Malbon Golf reimagines vintage golf style for today across a 13-piece collection. All-weather fabrics add versatility to each piece, and while the capsule pays homage to classic golf apparel, these styles look just as good downtown as they do on the fairway.

“This collection challenges golf’s traditionally rigid dress code through the casual Dockers lens, combined with Malbon Golf’s modern take,” said Nic Rendic, Global Head of Design for the brand. “With this second drop, we’re continuing to push back against the expected norms associated with the sport while adding our unique California twist.”

Two new styles headline this release: a Full Zip Parka made with breezy sailcloth fabric and a cozy Crewneck Sweatshirt, both available in navy blue and dusted clay orange. The collection also includes a twist on the classic Dockers® Original Chinos done in sustainable cottonized hemp with a trendy tapered fit. The Overall, Playa Short, Pique Polo and Sweater Polo also return in updated colors for this drop.

“The second phase of our partnership brings the apparel back to true golf roots,” said Stephen Malbon, co-founder of Malbon Golf. “We have taken classic golf wear – the pique polos, the sail-cloth anoraks and chinos – and applied modern blown-up graphics. This collection goes beyond a golf uniform. It’s not athleticwear, but it’s athletic, casual, and comfortable.”

The Dockers x Malbon Golf second drop ($98-$200) is now available at Dockers.com globally, Malbongolf.com, American Rag, Augustine and Malbon Golf NYC and Korea as of last week.
