“This year’s Awards Dinner was particularly meaningful,” said Grossman. “Our 2022 honorees were chosen by the editors of MR with input from the entire menswear industry, each exhibiting tremendous creativity, tenacity and courage, reinventing traditional rules and enhancing relationships during a pandemic. Working twice as hard (often with fewer associates), they accomplished far more than projected, reinforcing their leadership positions in the menswear industry and in their own communities.”

This, the first MR Awards dinner held after a three-year hiatus due to Covid-19, was the magazine’s 15thannual gala. MR’s ten 2022 honorees included Jamie Salter, of ABG, Louis DiGiacomo, of Saks Fifth Avenue, Shannon Stewart, of Harry Rosen, Jeff Halberstadt of Halberstadt’s/J.H. Sons, Gary Williams, of The Gary Williams Showroom, and Sharifa Murdock of Kith. Fred Derring, Lee Leonard, and Virginia Sandquist of the DLS Appare Group were inducted into the MR Awards Hall of Fame, and retailer JL Shaia, of Shaia’s in Homewood, Ala., received a Lifetime Achievement Award.

The event was convened by MR and Wainscot Media Group Publisher and Vice President Lizette Chin, with opening statements made by Wainscot Media President & CEO Mark Dowden, who introduced Grossman.

  1. The DLS group- true New Yorkers. Understanding the city like no other in pounding the streets and reviewing every showroom and market for their clients. Understanding, passion for the industry and doing every thing possible for their clients is their long standing trademark. Well deserved.

  2. Congratulations to Lee Leonard and Fred Deering; all the very best, sincerely… Bert Kraus ( old friend from Visitor)
