ENFANTS RICHES DEPRIMES FOCUSES ON THE REPRESSED FOR SPRING

by Stephen Garner

Enfants Riches Déprimés presented its spring/summer 2021 collection and film at Espace Niemeyer in Paris on Thursday, October 1st.

This season, creative director Henri Alexander Levy decided to produce a film to showcase his collection that reflects his long-standing interest in the psychology of the repressed – something mirrored in the brand’s own name (Enfants Riches Déprimés translates to Depressed Rich Kids).

The short film, entitled “Desolate Then,” stars 76-year-old actress Mary Woronov alongside 42-year-old musician Ariel Pink. Levy showed the film at the event along with some of his abstract paintings and the collection.

Featured in the film were 12 looks that were inspired by leather, religious iconography, romanticism, teeth, and private drawings from the past, among other things.
