EXTRA BUTTER LAUNCHES ‘DAZED AND CONFUSED’ COLLECTION

by Stephen Garner

New York City sneaker and streetwear retailer Extra Butter has released a new collection to celebrate 4/20. The unisex line is inspired by the 1993 film Dazed and Confused and features iconic imagery from the popular teenage comedy film.

The collection includes a graphic tee, tie-dye tee, long-sleeve tee, hoodie, pant, and a rolling tray and grinder set. In the spirit of 4/20, the euphoric Extra Butter x Dazed and Confused collection takes fans on a wild trip. The line’s long sleeve tee will display Michelle, Milla Jovovich’s character, and the hoodie will be graced by Wooderson, played by Matthew McConaughey, as featured in the film.

“For this Dazed and Confused collection, we wanted the art direction to be simple and mellow, highlighting key thematic elements signature to the film,” said Bernie Gross, creative director. “When ideating a central graphic, we remixed the film poster’s smiley face with Extra Butter branding inspired by the official Dazed and Confused typography. Working with Universal Pictures, we were able to obtain archival behind-the-scenes photos taken during filming. Elevating the accent graphics to puff print and embroidery really brings the pieces to life. My favorite piece is our interpretation of trippy blacklight posters you find at head shops.”

The limited-edition Extra Butter x Dazed and Confused collection, which retails between $35 and $100, is now available in stores and at extrabutter.com.
