FARFETCH CELEBRATES SOCCER WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WITH NEW CAPSULE

by Stephen Garner

FarfetchOnline retailer Farfetch and fashion media company Buro 24/7 have teamed up to reimagine the soccer kit in tribute to this summer’s world championship for the 2018 Buro Fashion Forward Initiative (BFFI).

For this collection, seven designers put their unique spin on the traditional soccer kit, to create a capsule line that features a range of menswear, womenswear, and unisex pieces.

Ienki lenki (Ukraine) have added new silhouettes to their classic collection for this capsule, whilst Dan Shan (China) designed pieces with the intention to celebrate not only competition but the beauty in being vulnerable. Biro (Singapore) chose to add colors in line with the Russian flag and Jahnkoy (Russia) represented Russia with their traditional ‘rubaha’ style collared shirt, featuring embroidery. Kris Goyri (Mexico) reimagined the kit of the Mexico team from 1986 in lightweight fabrics, whilst comfort and simple cuts formed the basis of À La Garçonne’s (Brazil) retro sportswear pieces. Lastly Sandra Mansour (Middle East) played with oversized silhouettes and nods to the game represented in design details on each piece.

Prices from $160 and the collection is available globally from Tuesday, June 26, exclusively on Farfetch.com.
