FENDI OPENS NEW BOUTIQUE IN VENICE

by Stephen Garner

Fendi has opened a new boutique in Venice Italy. Located in Calle Larga De l’Ascension in the heart of San Marco district, the store feature’s the luxury Italian brand’s menswear, womenswear, bags, and accessories.

The store is located inside a Venetian palace of the early 1900s. The 180 square-meter (1,937 square-foot) space has been designed in line with the new concept of the brand’s boutiques and enriched with original elements typical of the area such as terrazzo flooring, lozenge-pattern ceiling, and marmorino walls. By letting the natural light fill the rooms, the large windows of the building create a dialogue between inside and outside, revealing, the four-floor store through a see-through effect.

The ground floor is dedicated to women’s bags and accessories, displayed on ivory-colored leather shelves – supported by champagne-colored metal tubular structures – and on counters with powder-colored alcantara inner sides.

The first floor, divided into two rooms, is dedicated to womenswear and women’s shoes. In the first room, the walls are surrounded by a light champagne-colored thread curtain that recreates the effect of a theatrical backdrop; the terrazzo floor frames a carpet in shades of purple lying at the center of the room. The space features a mix of fine vintage furniture and design objects such as the light blue velvet armchairs by Fendi Casa, a coffee table from 1960 by Luigi Caccia Dominioni and a design sofa by Afra and Tobia Scarpa. The second room is dominated by a dark pink carpet and two armchairs by Fendi Casa covered in fabric with floral embroidery.

Also divided into two rooms, the second floor dedicated to the Fendi man offers an overall more masculine atmosphere and is dominated by shades of green. The shelves with champagne-colored metal details and forest-green leather tops match the carpets in the same shade. A rotating counter in briarwood, green satin, and satin-finish steel completes the space together with leather-colored furnishing elements in both rooms.

Finally, the third and top floor houses the VIP Room and a superb terrace. In the private sitting room, a cozy and comfortable space has been created, featuring an intense sky-blue color on all surfaces. The walls have geometric stucco motifs that recreate another archival version of the FF logo and are decorated with typical convex mirrors named Occhio della Strega (Eye of the Witch). The carpet perfectly matches the furnishings in teal-colored velvet and embellished with champagne-colored metal finishes.

The terrace, surrounded by disarranged plants, is furnished with Fendi Casa’s outdoor collection and is enriched with lanterns, straw elements, and a rope rug.

The Venice boutique is in the process of LEED certification, the first project for the Maison Fendi designed and implemented in accordance with the international standard of sustainability that aims to reduce water and energy consumption and to increase indoor air quality to improve the experience inside the store.
