FGI NAMES 2022’S RISING STAR AWARD FINALISTS

Four up-and-coming menswear brands will vie in the Menswear category of Fashion Group International’s Rising Star Awards, which will be presented at a luncheon at The Lighthouse, Pier Sixty on the Hudson on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

The four recently announced men’s finalists are AKNVAS (Christian Juul Nielsen); Christopher Lowman; Kenneth Nicholson and Terry Singh.

Four other labels will compete in the Genderless category: Deviate (Kelsey & Cassidy Tucker); Fried Rice (Maya Wang); Stan (Tristan Detwiler) and William Frederick (William McNicol).

Awards will also be given in the Womenswear, Beauty, and Accessories fields.

All finalists have to be in business for one to six years.

In addition to the competition categories, Cole Wassner of Wassner Management Group will receive the Entrepreneur of the Year Award and womenswear designer Byron Lars will get the President’s Award for Excellence.

Throughout these recent years, it is our important mission to create connection and resources for these burgeoning brands to grow within the industry,” said Maryanne Grisz, President and CEO, Fashion Group International, in a statement.

This year, launching February 10, 2022, the FGI website will feature a “Rising Star Virtual Marketplace and Gallery” of these finalists’ work. The FGI membership voting will commence in March.

The Diesel Sustainability Award, Hilldun Business Innovation Award and presenters will be announced at a later date.
