FILA RELEASES COLLECTION WITH ROWING BLAZERS

by Stephen Garner

Fila has teamed up with Rowing Blazers to launch a limited-edition capsule collection.

The Fila x Rowing Blazers capsule includes 7-pieces spanning jackets, joggers, a polo shirt, shorts, and a custom footwear silhouette. Ranging in price from $95-$175 and available for purchase exclusively at rowingblazers.com, the pieces fuse streetwear designs with an updated and reimagined preppy style.

“Rowing Blazers has an unconventional approach to classics, merging collegiate inspired styles and youth culture,” said Louis W. Colon III, vice president of heritage & trend at Fila North America. “The partnership was a natural fit for us. As tennis continues to drive fashion trends, this was an opportunity to integrate Fila’s rich heritage in the sport with a fresh, unexpected twist, and in a way that is authentic to both brands.”

Fila’s signature red and navy hues are decorated with elements like the zig-zag pattern synonymous with the Rowing Blazers brand. The Agostino Jacket ($175) and the Bello Jogger ($135) both launch in two colorways, red and navy, and are trimmed with the zig-zag design. The Fidelio Polo ($110), offered in gardenia and navy, is revealed with a vertical zig-zag motif, while the Benvolio Short ($95) features an elastic waistband embellished with the same pattern. All of the items within the capsule include a dual-branded patch logo.

To complement the apparel, the collaboration also includes the Fila Tennis 88 x Rowing Blazers ($150). The footwear, designed in full-grain leather, features the zig-zag graphic on the signature Fila flag and along the heel, with two lace offerings of white or the zig-zag pattern. Additional design details include Rowing Blazers’ colorful croquet stripe detailing on the insole, a dual-branded quarter logo, and Rowing Blazers branding on the tongue.

“I’ve been a fan of Fila for a long time. It’s one of the great classic sportswear brands of all time, and it’s a privilege to collaborate with them,” said Jack Carlson, Rowing Blazers founder. “When I was a grad student at Oxford, I used to play tennis on the university’s grass courts – usually decked in full Fila. But it’s such a rich brand with so many different great connotations – from tennis courts to ‘70s classics to the radical twists of Fila’s ‘90s Magic Line. We wanted to draw on this heritage and put our subtle Rowing Blazers spin on some of Fila’s most iconic pieces, including a special, limited-edition Tennis 88 sneaker emblazoned with our signature zig-zag.”
