For A Cool $1 Billion, MLB Adds Nike Swoosh To Uniforms

You may have noticed it when Gerrit Cole pulled on his new Yankees jersey. And maybe you groaned or cringed or cussed. It was prominently displayed on the jersey’s upper right breast. It was only a couple inches long but looked bigger than Delaware. It is Nike’s iconic image. The swoosh. A swoosh on the pinstripes? Blasphemy! Sacrilege! Or any other Biblical word that denotes how ticked off I am! The Nike swoosh will adorn all 30 Major League Baseball uniforms starting in the 2020 season as part of a 10-year deal between MLB, Nike and retailer Fanatics — a deal that is reportedly valued at more than $1 billion and should haul in about $3 million a year for each team.
