Forecast For Men: Casual Conditions Ahead

Relax, man. That was the takeaway from several designers who presented their spring 2017 collections during New York Fashion Week: Men’s this week. Breezy, casual looks and styles combining elements of sports-influenced and tailored clothing ruled. The trend toward de-emphasizing traditional suits, seen in Europe last month, continued. Designers also pushed lightweight jackets and coats and sweaters for summer layering, as if questioning the reliability of seasonal weather. “I think all the terminology for men’s is like totally gone: What’s a suit? What’s summer? What’s winter,” Michael Kors said as he narrated the presentation of his spring men’s line on Tuesday.
