During men’s fashion week in London, the weather was distinctly British, but the outfits told a different story — one set in Long Island. For 2016’s biggest menswear trend, fashion has gone back in time — 94 years, to be precise — to the “Roaring Twenties”, and F. Scott Fitzgerald’s decadently debonair novel The Great Gatsby. Men photographed on the streets of London were, in particular, turning to Baz Luhrmann’s 2013 treatment of the novel, jazzing up iconic ’20s looks with modern twists. Think dapper tweed sports jackets, timeless double-breasted suits and sharp three-piece suits; accessorised with pocket watches, pocket squares, bow ties and flat caps.
