HOT WHEELS COLLABORATES WITH ADIDAS ORIGINALS AND DESIGNER SEAN WOTHERSPOON

by John Russel Jones

For decades, Mattel’s Hot Wheels has proven its influence in automotive and pop culture with both legendary design and peak performance, values that active sportswear brand Adidas also shares. The two megabrands have combined forces with streetwear designer Sean Wotherspoon to create a capsule collection for the kid in all of us that still craves high-speed hijinx…but that doesn’t involve higher insurance rates or pricey tickets from the highway patrol.

Wotherspoon has combined his love of automotive memorabilia by bringing Hot Wheels into the mix to create a race-inspired collection of apparel and footwear, brought to life with a series of bold graphics. The apparel collection features a race jacket, long-sleeve mesh t-shirt, cotton tee, trail shorts, a bucket hat, and a reversible tote bag, as well as an updated Superturf Adventure shoe with detachable patches and an expressive take on Adidas’s classic slider, the Adilette. Additionally, he’s created a Hot Wheels Color Shifter Deora II die-cast featuring Wotherspoon’s signature flower motif.

The apparel, accessories, and sliders are now available on Adidas’s Confirmed app and in Wotherspoon’s Round 2 store. On August 25th, the footwear will be available to shop through Adidas.com and select retailers, and the Deora II die-cast will be available on Mattel Creations.com.
