As SVP of Walmart’s global e-commerce supply chain for five years (until 2018), I had a front-row seat to how brick-and-mortar retailers were responding to Amazon’s dominance in e-commerce. Most of us were alarmed. And who could blame us? Today, Amazon has nearly 50 percent of all e-commerce trade. The way I see it, if you are a brick-and-mortar retailer, you either embrace a digital strategy to become omnichannel or do nothing and become irrelevant.
