How RFID Helps Retail Companies Save Money

I recently read that a number of companies have adopted RFID as a way to control inventories. Leaders include Target, Macy’s, Zara, H&M, Uniqlo, Nike, Adidas, Footlocker, Lululemon, Levi’s, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, and Victoria’s Secret. That is quite an array of stellar companies, and one has to ask why others have not adopted it. Let’s look at the positive. Nike’s CEO Matthew Friend said, “RFID is going to drive improved inventory holding costs and it is also going to reduce our transportation costs both in direct and in wholesale”. A year earlier, Dick Johnson, CEO of Footlocker, said that “more accurate inventory tracking can drive sales growth by providing associates and customers the ability to find every piece of merchandise down to the last unit available.” Read more at Forbes.
