HUGO FORWARD X ZELLERFELD LAUNCH 3D-PRINTED LOAFER
Hugo, in collaboration with Zellerfeld, has created a first-of-its-kind fully 3D-printed loafer. The traditional shoe’s design bridges the classic tailored look with the radically new technology of 3D printing. Each pair is printed to order at Zellerfeld’s automated facility in Hamburg and manufactured by filament printing with recycled materials.
The Hugo Forward X Zellerfeld loafer is available in beige, black, red, orange, and blue with a crepe-inspired sole texture. 3D printing allows each pair to be fully customized to the wearer by using foot scan technology. This creates a unique profile for each customer that can continuously be improved and modified with each order.
Each shoe has a fully printed closure with no stitching, glue, or additional parts. The 100% customization of the process eliminates the purpose of inventory storage, shrinkage, or dead stock.
The loafer joins a growing list of innovative pieces introduced under the Hugo Forward banner: a platform showcasing Hugo’s innovative, technology-driven approach to design. In a statement, Hugo Forward put it, “You’ve got to keep moving to stay ahead of the game,” underscoring the brand’s commitment to a better fashion industry.
This highly exclusive shoe debuted on the runway at Taiwanese brand Namesake’s Paris Fashion Week show on June 29. The Hugo x Zellerfeld loafer will be available exclusively on-demand on zellerfeld.com, with in-store installations promoting the shoe exclusively at Hugo stores in Amsterdam and Milan.
