ITEM ALERT: HUNTING-INSPIRED KNIT SHIRTS

by Karen Alberg Grossman

Thanks to an entire career working with retailers, multi-line rep Bruce Wender knows what will sell in specialty stores. His collection of super-soft knit tops, a modern interpretation of hunting sweaters, looks like a good bet.

This new business, launching for fall 2020, is called Sharp Lad, a tribute to Bruce’s stockbroker father Stuart Wender, who would always use the word “sharp” to refer to a well-dressed guy (and who always encouraged his son to stay sharp). “Our Sharp Lad icon is a whimsical interpretation of a well-dressed man from a vibrant fashion era. The Sharp Bulldog is our Lad’s best friend,” Bruce explains.

The premiere collection comprises various models (full-zip and quarter-zip long sleeve sweaters, vests and crews) in heathered shades (cranberry, powder blue, charcoal, indigo, espresso, oatmeal) with suede shoulder panels. The body fabric is a super-soft, easy-care blend of 85 percent cotton/10 percent poly/5 percent Lycra; unique details include a tortoise-shell zipper pull and double interlock stitched seams. Available in sizes M-XXL at $48 cost (suggested retails $115-$135), the collection will surely sharpen your bottom line. Check it out at the Charlotte Mart, January 31st-February 3rd, suite 511.
