JACHS DEBUTS NEW WHOLESALE MODEL FOR INDEPENDENT RETAILERS

JACHS has launched a boutique ordering program to make ordering and partnering with the New York-based clothing brand easier for independent retailers. Shifting from the traditional model of pre-booking at trade shows months in advance, independent retailers will now be able to order directly from the JACHS wholesale web portal, increasing their ability to be flexible in reacting to trends and high performing items.

New styles will release every two weeks, and retail partners will enjoy a 70 percent initial markup, no minimum order quantities, free shipping on orders over $100, and a fast turnaround — merchandise will ship within 24 hours — which allows for easy stock replenishments. Independent retailers will also have access to on-demand customer service and order guidance from JACHS staff if desired, though the portal is made with simple self-service in mind.

The new program will allow independent retailers to easily and quickly double down on items that are selling well and will cut down on potential fallout from trade show pre-orders that don’t end up being produced.

Independent retailers are excited about this shift in strategy from JACHS. Christine Alcalay, owner of Fig in Brooklyn, is an early adopter of the program: “The pandemic has definitely forced the fashion/retail industry to reinvent itself and the way we were used to doing things,” she says. “JACHS’ new approach to wholesale has been wonderful for my men’s shop. Since we no longer had the luxury of buying months in advance and with a smaller budget to work with, we had to take a more immediate look at what was needed at the shop.
