Jason Cater has been named VP of design and merchandising at Peter Millar’s Peter Millar Collection division. Cater comes to the company from Ermenegildo Zegna, where he’s been since 2007. He joins a senior design team that consists of founder Chris Knott, VP of Golf design and merchandising Mike Bowers and women’s design director Lindsay Browder.
“Jason’s experience in the luxury sportswear category will be invaluable to Peter Millar as the company continues to experience considerable growth in the U.S. and internationally,” said Peter Millar Collection president Scott Ruerup. “Peter Millar’s retail placement ranges from specialty stores in the U.S. and abroad, to Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom, to golf clubs and resorts. Jason will be a great asset in bringing designs and products to market for all our retail partners and consumers.”
“Peter Millar’s reputation in the industry is impeccable and I’m up for the challenge of rounding out their robust creative team,” said Cater. “This is an incredible opportunity for me to help grow both their lifestyle offerings and global footprint.”
Cater was most recently VP of sportswear, leather goods and Canada at Ermenegildo Zegna Group. He joined Zegna in 2007 as director of sales for its sportswear division. Prior to that Cater was national sales manager at Paul & Shark.
