John Varvatos hosted his 12th Annual Stuart House Benefit at his Los Angeles store late last month, an event that raised $1,135,000 for the home for children who have suffered sexual abuse. The event, which featured an auction, was sponsored by Chrysler and Hasbro Studios and hosted by actor Chris Pine and emceed by comedian Bill Bellamy. Ziggy Marley gave a live performance to close the event.
Among the notable auction items a three-night stay at Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler’s Maui home and a flight on a private jet with the band Kiss with concert tickets.
“With the recent store opening in my hometown of Detroit and the return of the fashion show to NYC, where it all began, ‘home’ has recently been a prevalent theme in my life,” said Varvatos during the event. “Today’s benefit for Stuart House resonated with me more so than ever because Stuart House creates a home for children who have suffered from sexual abuse. We had an exceptional turnout and I’d like to thank everyone, especially Chris and Ziggy, for their support and participation.”
Stuart House, a program created by the Rape Treatment Center at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center, serves gives sexually abused children and their families support services in a safe and friendly environment for free.
