Joseph Abboud Opens Manhattan Flagship

Joseph Abboud opens its first flagship store under the Men’s Wearhouse ownership this week. The 4,300 sq. ft. store is on Madison Avenue and 49th Street in Manhattan, not far from the Saks Fifth Avenue flagship.

“The location of the store is in the heart of Midtown, which is quickly becoming a menswear shopping destination,” said Men’s Wearhouse chief creative director Joseph Abboud in a statement. “Inspired by London’s Savile Row, I wanted to bring an American curated experience for men to Madison Avenue… a place where they cannot only shop but explore.”

“It’s our commitment to dress men in the finest quality designer menswear in America so it was only natural to support the Joseph Abboud brand with its own retail store and expand that product offering,” added Men’s Wearhouse CEO Doug Ewert.

Designer Joseph Abboud joined Men’s Wearhouse as chief creative director in December 2012 and was reunited with his namesake brand when Men’s Wearhouse acquired it from J.W. Childs in July 2013 for $97.5 million in cash. The brand ceased wholesaling when Men’s Wearhouse acquired it but has been expanding it beyond the confines of Men’s Wearhouse stores. Joseph Abboud launched its own e-commerce site, featuring products not found in Men’s Wearhouse stores, in November last year.
