Lee Broom Will Give Bergdorf Goodman Men’s Store A Cinematic Window Display

by MR Magazine Staff

Two years ago, British designer Lee Broom debuted a pastiche department store to present his new furniture and lighting collections during Salone del Mobile in Milan, which not only gained him international recognition, but also caught the eye of Bergdorf Goodman’s visual director Shane Ruth. Now, Broom will try his hand at an actual department store, outfitting the four Fifth Avenue windows at Bergdorf’s men’s store that will be unveiled during New York’s design week. The windows are broken down into four categories: work, play, exercise, and explore, depicting the average day of man that just so happens to be dressed in eclectic-chic Thom Browne menswear. Each vignette is laid out in a single material, ranging from Carrara marble and crystal to brass and monochrome, while Broom’s pieces act as props for explaining the narrative. “I wanted to display my pieces in a way that I have never done before,” says the designer. “It’s not necessarily the furniture and lighting that’s at the forefront of the story; it’s also the clothing, mannequins, and scenography. I wanted to take each theme and create an exaggerated version of those simplistic activities we perform everyday.” See more at Architectural Digest.
