LEVI’S VINTAGE CLOTHING PAYS TRIBUTE TO NEW YORK’S HISTORIC FOLK MUSIC SCENE

by Stephen Garner

Levi’s Vintage Clothing has launched its new fall/winter 2019 collection, paying tribute to the historic folk music scene in New York City’s Greenwich Village.

The American folk music revival began in the 1940s thanks to freewheeling and freethinking musicians and artists who flooded the area in and around Greenwich Village with new music and clothing trends. By the 1960s, Greenwich Village had become the epicenter of American folk music where musicians revolutionized the genre with a sound and style that would go on to define popular bohemian culture for decades to come.

This season, Levi’s Vintage Clothing recreated key pieces from the archives — the Suede Sherpa Jacket with the original Levi’s Shorthorn label and the Climate Seal Jacket, based on the original jacket from the 1950s with a bomber fit, Sherpa lining, and front welt pockets. The 1967 505 Jeans were also an iconic slim-fitting jean of the 1960s and are now made for fall ‘19 with selvedge denim and a big “E” red tab.

The Levi’s Vintage Clothing fall/winter 2019 collection is available now on levi.com and in select Levi’s stores.
