LULULEMON IMPROVES ON ITS BEST-SELLING MVT SHIRT

by Stephen Garner

Lululemon has engineered the ultimate technical training shirt but didn’t do it alone. The Metal Vent Tech (MVT) 2.0 is the result of a continuous feedback loop with its collective of consumers, putting technical innovations to the test and incorporating wearer feedback into product design.

The original MVT shirt was the go-to training shirt for the activewear brand’s customers, who often cited its anti-stink Silverescent technology, breathable, seamless construction, and moisture-wicking properties as the reasons for why it was a gym staple.

However, in true Lululemon style, the brand wanted to build on its best. With this in mind, the brand embarked on a quest to find out how it could improve this fan-favorite and take it to the next level.

To do this, Lululemon asked local and elite athletes—including Trey Burton and Kyle O’Quinn—along with its online and in-store guests to put it to the test and see if it could stand up to their workouts. A training shirt should be vetted by the people who train in it, after all.

Taking this human-first approach to design, the brand factored in enhanced movement, thermal comfort, and distinctive touch. The result was a lightweight shirt with added spandex for improved shape retention and durability properties, in addition to everything the brand’s collective already knows and loves about the MVT, leaving them ready to take on their toughest workouts in comfort.

The MVT 2.0 is available at lululemon.com and in stores now, from sizes XS-XXL in a variety of styles including short sleeve, long sleeve, tank, and hoodie.
