Macy’s and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that the 39th annual fireworks show will be back on the East River for a second year on Saturday, July 4th. The largest 4th of July fireworks display in the country will be in two spots along the shores of Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, starting at 9:20pm.

“Last year, we brought Macy’s incredible fireworks back to the East River – and this year, with barges up and down the river, even more New Yorkers will be able to take part,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio in a statement. “This celebration will light up the sky for millions in Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan. There’s no question: this will be a dynamite 4th of July for New Yorkers across the city.”

The fireworks – 40,000 separate shells — will be launched from four barges in Midtown between 23rd and 37th Streets and one double barge Downtown near the Brooklyn Bridge.

The show will be broadcast on NBC, starting at 8pm Eastern Time.
