On Friday, December 9, Macy’s will commemorate the eighth annual National Believe Day by  offering “double donations,” thereby providing a contribution of an additional $1 per letter to charity partner Make-A-Wish (up to an extra $1 million).

Since early November, Macy’s has invited customers of all ages to drop their letters to Santa, an integral part of their Believe letter writing program, at their local Macy’s store or via macys.com/believe. The national retailer has agreed to donate $1 (up to $1 million) to Make-A-Wish for every letter collected through December 24. The money is then used to grant wishes, ranging from a guitar to the creation of a professional modeling portfolio, to deserving children and their families.

“National Believe Day is one of our favorite times of the year, where our partners at Make-A-Wish, Macy’s customers and employees come together to help make wishes come true for wish kids and their families,” said Holly Thomas, group vice president of Cause Marketing for Macy’s.

In conjunction with National Believe Day, the animated special “Yes, Virginia” will be shown online on December 9 at youtube.com/macys. This award-winning, half-hour holiday program features a star-studded cast including Neil Patrick Harris, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Alfred Molina and Beatrice Miller.
