To celebrate the launch of the Maison Margiela and Gentle Monster eyewear collaboration, a series of pop-ups will be showcased in seven cities around the world at Gentle Monster flagships in New York City, Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Singapore, and London. The New York Gentle Monster flagship debuted the Maison Margiela x Gentle Monster installation last week, and runs until April 30th.

The objective of the Gentle Monster x Maison Margiela collaboration is to reinterpret Maison Margiela’s identity and values through eyewear that simultaneously showcases Gentle Monster’s innovative approach to design.

Maison Margiela’s signature elements, such as the black mask, unfinished thread, and fabric details, are freshly interpreted from Gentle Monster’s unique aesthetic perspective. The partnership between the two iconic brands embodies their design innovation and beautiful craftsmanship throughout the installations.

Giant kinetic faces represent anonymity, a key component of the French luxury fashion house’s legacy. The iconic white stitches and the number ⑧ —which represents the eyewear category — are other signature details featured throughout the installations. It is embellished alongside the logo on the temples of the product in such a way as not to overwhelm the overall design. Customers will also receive a Maison Margiela x Gentle Monster special logo cushion as a gift with purchase, which resembles the signature packaging for the collaboration.
