MALIBU COUNTRY MART ADDS RETAIL TENANTS

by Stephen Garner

Seaside shopping and dining destination Malibu Country Mart has added three new luxury retailers Noble Souls, Vuori, and Brandy Melville, the opening of the well-known eatery Lucky’s Steakhouse, and new elevated wellness concepts, including a new COVID-19 safety program.

Headquartered in the aspirational beach community of Encinitas, California and initially launched in 2015, Vuori merges technical clothing with a West Coast vibe that looks and feels great. In November 2020, Vuori opened its doors as the sixth U.S. location at Malibu Country Mart, which introduced locals to premium performance apparel inspired by the active coastal California lifestyle with the integration of fitness, surf, sport, and art.

Timothy Oulton’s Noble Souls is set to open in February 2021 as the first dedicated Noble Souls store in the U.S. making Malibu Country Mart home to the brand’s flagship shop beyond the brand’s high-profile showrooms in New York City, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. The luxury furniture space is the brainchild of world-renowned furniture designer Timothy Oulton, focusing on natural materials and sustainable living. Utilizing handcrafted time-honored techniques, each Timothy Oulton piece is inspired by the past with a modern perspective and alludes to the mindset that anyone can transform any space into a realm of reconnection. The Noble Souls collection features sofas made from 100% natural vegetable dyes, feathers, and natural linens, supported by a select range of furniture and lighting using reclaimed timber, hand-blown glass, and vegetable-dyed leather.

Brandy Melville made its official debut at Malibu Country Mart in December 2020, which marks its fifth location in the greater Los Angeles area. Created over 20 years ago in Italy by retail vet Silvio Marsan, the fashion and accessories brand has developed a loyal following stateside.

Lucky’s Steakhouse, Santa Barbara County’s premier steakhouse, opened its second U.S. location at the Malibu Country Mart in December 2020, bringing its exceptional from-the-heart dining experience to the luxury lifestyle center’s diverse collection of upscale boutiques and retailers.

And, new in wellness is COVID SMART, the world’s first certificate program for occupational training for COVID-19 in the workplace that consists of several online training modules tackling COVID-19 basics, proper sanitation, and mask procedures, and best practices for social distancing. Developed in partnership with the world’s leading professional association of epidemiologists, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), Malibu Country Mart says that many of its shops have completed the program to keep employees and guests safe through thorough training protocols on healthy practices and safety precautions.

“We’re honored to bring these premier retailers to the Malibu community following a year of unprecedented events,” said Michael Koss, founder of Koss Real Estate Investments. “Our goal is to offer an unparalleled destination with new-to-market and trend-setting brands for locals to safely shop and dine outdoors. With the launch of Noble Souls’ first luxury retail space, as well as Vuori, Brandy Melville, and Lucky’s Steakhouse’s recent debuts, we’re excited for what’s to come at Malibu Country Mart in 2021.”
