MARTINPATRICK3 TEAMS UP WITH THE MINNESOTA DANCE THEATRE ON HOLIDAY WINDOWS

by Stephen Garner

Minnesota Dance Theatre has teamed up with MartinPatrick3 on the retailer’s new holiday window display. Since this year’s production of Loyce Houlton’s Nutcracker Fantasy is unable to grace the theater’s stage this year, its iconic costumes are now incorporated into the North Loop retailer’s windows.

In a clever pairing of old and new, Greg Walsh, principal at MartinPatrick3, and his team, bring the street-side windows to life weaving original Nutcracker costumes with apparel from the retailer’s collections, reigniting memories of performances and holidays past.

Lise Houlton, Minnesota Dance Theatre’s artistic director said, “Our treasured costumes are without dancers this year, but it will be a special event indeed to see them alive with magic and imagination this holiday season, in the windows of MartinPatrick3.”

During this season of giving, a Nutcracker ornament will be available for purchase at MartinPatrick3 with 100 percent of the proceeds going to support Minnesota Dance Theatre’s CAN Dance, a program that fully funds tuition for dance scholars from highly diverse neighborhoods, that would otherwise not have access.

“I have had hundreds of customers thank us for the gesture,” Walsh tells MR via email. “Although we have next to nothing in the windows of actual MartinPatrick3 product, the goodwill it instills in people is unmeasurable! I wish everyone could experience them in person. All we need is a little snow to make them truly magical.”

  1. Your windows are delightful in bringing back the memories of the Nutcracker! Adults to children, who have seen, read, or heard the music are reminded of the magic. The wonderful gesture of Martin Patrick3 “giving back to your community” is on full display. Thank you for sharing the moment of innocence amid all the upheaval of 2020.

  2. This is amazing! As a child, I was lucky enough to see the Nutcracker many times and to see it displayed like this, I feel like I watching the story again. Absolutely beautiful!! Way to go, MartinPatrick3! Happy Holidays!
