Mavi continues its commitment to sustainability and conservation efforts, announcing its ninth year of support for the Indigo Turtles Project, an ongoing partnership with Ecological Research Society (EKAD), to help protect endangered sea turtles. The project’s aim is to protect Caretta caretta and Chelonia mydas, two species of sea turtles native to the Mediterranean that have navigated the earth for 110 million years.

Each year, Mavi designs and sells exclusive T-shirts to support the Indigo Turtles Project. This year’s collection launched yesterday to time with the start of the sea turtles’ nesting season. This year’s T-shirts are available in both a men’s and women’s style, each featuring blue watercolor turtle imagery with the phrase “Save The Indigo Turtles.” The 2022 T-shirts are also made with BCI cotton, sustainable cotton from the Better Cotton Initiative. For every t-shirt sold at $28 a piece, five baby sea turtles are adopted and Mavi makes a contribution to the natural habitat of the Mediterranean Sea.

EKAD, which focuses its activities in Belek, Turkey, the largest nesting area in the Mediterranean, has helped over 1 million Caretta caretta make it to the sea in almost two decades. Only 40% of hatching turtles reach the water and only one in one thousand survive. The number of nests, which was only 500 when the activities started in the region, reached 3,850 in 2021. Mavi is proud to give back to its community and be involved in a project that helps sea turtles in their challenging journey to reach the sea. Additionally, the Indigo Turtles Project brings attention to EKAD’s dedicated research and promotes the importance of volunteering.

Mavi Indigo Turtles T-shirts are available now on, for $28 each.
