MINE77 RELEASES SECOND TO LAST COLLECTION DESIGNED BY THE LATE JAKE BURTON

by Stephen Garner

Mine77 has released its spring/summer 2020 collection.

The second to last collection that Jake Burton oversaw before his death, is a unisex collection focused on product development, functionality, and design.

Jake’s attention to detail is evident in every piece such as the Weatherley Board Shorts, featuring magnetic pocket closures and a waterproof phone pouch. The Coaches Jacket, not only brings in new materials but also a bit of history, with the digitally printed image of Jason Gerardi by Justin Hostynek (the mastermind behind Absinthe Films). And the favorite French Terry Hoodie and Shorts, which features zippered entries on the kangaroo pocket to keep stuff locked up and safe, is lightweight for the warmer seasons, and is super soft – in the words of Jake Burton “it’s like putting on a spa robe, after a long day.”

Jake had a heavy hand in the development of the collection, but his son Timi Carpenter brought the collection to life by finishing the product development and taking over ownership of Mine77 as a whole.

“My dad has many legacies, including Mine77,” said Timi. “He worked on this collection until the end of his life. He taught me many things including paying attention to detail, what constitutes a good garment, and how to have fun. With those lessons, we continue to carry on the legacy of Mine77.”

“These past few months have been gnarly for everyone,” added Timi. And during this mayhem, the Mine team worked incredibly hard to bring this line to life. We had a few speed bumps and obstacles, like no travel and typical Vermont spring with 35-degree weather. But with positive attitudes, an amazing crew including my girlfriend Gia, and some social distancing we were able to capture the line the way it was meant to be; expressive, functional, and downright fun. My family even joined in to help out! My mom even hopped on the trampoline and took a cruise around the yard on my handlebars! Luckily everyone got through the shoot in good health and spirits just like we hope the world can through this.”

The legacy of Jake Burton continues with this Mine77 collection, and it can be seen through the pieces as well as the images from the campaign.
