Luxury Italian brand Missoni joined forces with the unconventional French cult brand Pigalle to create a menswear capsule collection that will be unveiled this month exclusively at Colette in Paris, Dover Street Market in Ginza, and Pigalle stores.
Inspired by basketball, Missoni revisited the past using archive fabrics, dating back between 1985 and 2010, which have been reworked into triangular patchwork fabrics and used for a selection of Pigalle’s most iconic pieces, rendering Missoni’s timelessness both contemporary and urban. Created in two color variants, a beige-yellow and a blue-purple, this versatile collection is comprised of pieces that fluidly adapt to the personal style of any man.
Pigalle’s raglan-sleeved, varsity bomber jacket displays front and back panels in Missoni’s quintessential patchworks, while a fur-stitch robe in a pima cotton uses the same patchwork fabric for hems and shoulders; both are lined in a technical nylon sport mesh similar in appearance to the mesh used for basketball jerseys. A fleece track pant and sweatshirt exhibit patchwork side-panel inserts. A jersey t-shirt showcases appliqués of the Missoni and Pigalle logos that have been laser cut from Missoni space-dye fabrics. Pigalle’s take on the classic deerstalker cap is finished in suede and Missoni’s exclusive loom-knit fabrics. The capsule collection is rounded out by a collectible art piece: a basketball finished using Japanese temari, an ancient technique that has often inspired Missoni fabrics.
Be on the lookout for the drop soon.
