MOSCHINO TAKES US TO THE BEACH FOR RESORT 2022

by Stephen Garner

With brighter forecasts ahead, it’s surf’s up on Moschino Beach. For the Italian luxury brand’s resort 2022 menswear collection, creative director Jeremy Scott channels neon optimism into C-Suite-meets-streetwear, all through a prism of surf style.

Suiting is a focal point, with beach-ified takes on formal men’s tropes. Blazers and tuxedo jackets are matched with scuba leggings—these function as tropical trousers. Myriad vests are also included, whether layered with sport coats, cut in sun-patterned denim, or styled with speedos. The intent? From the boardwalk to the boardroom, surf easily into your next meeting (plus, now that in-person meetings have returned, you needn’t leave outdoor recreation entirely in the rearview mirror).

More casual elements in this seaside escape include Hawaiian hibiscuses—lushly patterned over a double-breasted blazer, for example—and 1990’s-era tiger-striped bucket hats and biker shorts. Tropical madras tailoring (another twist, this time on a preppy staple) pairs up alongside a color palette of electro-greens, saturated lavenders, tie-dyes, and noirs. High-end touches, like gold moc-croc leather jeans and vests, stand alongside logomania moments, including a jagged, 1990’s-esque “Moschino” typeface.

This polychrome Moschino medley speaks to a reclaimed surge of get-back-out-there energy. We’re moving towards seeing waves IRL again, and not just on our Instagram feeds. For a beach weekend, there’s an array of backpacks, zipped duffels, and gym bags to get you there.

So, grab your limited-edition Moschino longboard, pull on your ombré board shorts, and get ready for plenty of sunny days ahead.
