NBA’S RUSSELL WESTBROOK LAUNCHES WESTBROOK BY HTG

by Brett Edward Stout

NBA star Russell Westbrook is launching Westbrook by HTG (Honor the Gift), a designer-priced sportswear and denim collection. The collection features 61 pieces, including shirts, sweatshirts, pants, jeans, and outerwear.

The wholesale debut will take place in Paris during the June market, with appointments scheduled from Wednesday, June 25th, through Wednesday, July 2nd, at 24 Rue Beranger. Following this, the event will continue in New York at the M5 Showroom, located at 174 Hudson Street.

Westbrook’s entry into fashion began with the launch of a casual collection, titled “Honor the Gift,” in 2016. This new brand, Westbrook by HTG, allows him to design for an older, more affluent audience. This new venture, in conjunction with partners including Gary and Cole Wassner of Hilldun Corporation and WMG, aims to attract a different demographic, though still very much a part of Westbrook’s fandom.

“I have enjoyed creating a clothing world for younger consumers with Honor the Gift, but would like to also have an offering for them as they continue onto their next phase of life,” says Russell Westbrook. “I looked to my own closet for inspiration for Westbrook by HTG and wanted to be able to match the quality of garments that I wear day-to-day.”

“Partnering with Russell on this project has been a great experience,” says Gary Wassner, CEO of Hilldun Corporation. “Russell has a clear vision. He’s a consummate professional.  We’re excited to be able to help make this concept a reality, allowing people the ability to emulate his iconic style.”

Westbrook by HTG will initially be sold through wholesale partners and is expected to expand into a direct-to-consumer business next year.
