NICK GRAHAM TO LAUNCH SPORTSWEAR AND SWIMWEAR

by Stephen Garner

Nick Graham will launch his first sportswear and swimwear collection under his eponymous brand. The sportswear collection is a combination of 1950s Miami Beach and Graham‘s signature irony. Using pastels, prints, and plaids, the collection has the feel of sunset cocktails in South Beach, when that part of Miami was slightly more innocent than it is today.

“I was inspired about the time when America was simpler and not so complicated,” Graham said. “I was looking at some imagery from that era, and the style seemed to match the optimism of the day. I wanted to try and capture that feeling.”

The collection includes unstructured sport coats, slim fit five-pocket jeans, and chinos that come in soft stretch twills. Novelty rayon shirts are both classic and ironic; a parrot smoking a pipe wearing a fedora, toucans with headphones on, and a flamingo with a large dollar sign gold chain speak to the whimsy Graham is known for. Soft cotton polo shirts in multi-colors round out the sportswear.

The swimwear comes in a wide variety of conversational prints that can coordinate with the rayon shirts to create a cabana set look, or can be worn alone when one is about to be thrown in a pool. A collection of printed baseball caps and fedora’s with novelty headbands rounds out the collection.

John Kammeier, president of Nick Graham, added, “We’re very excited about the potential of these new additions to the line and to extend our presence in menswear or even further.”

Over the last four years, the Nick Graham brand has become a dominant player in the men’s dress shirt and tailored clothing area, targeting a market that Graham defines as “perennial millennial”. The new collection of sportswear and swimwear will start to ship in January.
