ORIGINAL PENGUIN ISSUES SPECIAL EDITION COLLECTION FOR ITS 70TH

For over 70 years, Original Penguin and its namesake icon, Pete the Penguin, have adorned the masters of leisure and sport. For Original Penguin’s 70th anniversary, the brand is releasing a special edition collection that reimagines mid-century styles from the Munsingwear archives, famously worn by golf legends and cultural icons. A division of Perry Ellis International, Original Penguin debuted in 1955.

Among the original offerings, of particular note, was the Original Penguin polo, created by Munsingwear, which became a signature look for the brand’s style. Golf legends like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Chi Chi Rodriguez, as well as cultural icons including Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, and Bob Hope, embraced the look — helping to cement Pete the Penguin as a symbol of a cool, confident American style.

The special collection includes reimaginings of the Pete’s Earl Polo, the Short Sleeve Heritage Sweater Polo, the Pete’s Roadmap Polo, the ¼ Zip Lightweight Pullover, the Flat Front Earl Pant, and Players Short, as well as the Technical Earl Polo, which will be worn as part of the uniform at the upcoming US Open golf tournament.
