OUTERWEAR WEEK: DSQUARED2’S ESPECIALLY OUTDOORSY LOOKS FOR F/W 2022

by Christopher Blomquist

Leave it to two Canadians to show guys how to bundle up against the cold next fall.

Designers Dean and Dan Caten presented their Fall 2022 Dsquared2 menswear collection in Milan last week and its “back to nature” theme (after being stuck indoors for so long) was truly reflected in its outerwear.

The opening look (above left), which set the stage for the rest of the presentation,  was a sleeping bag padded coat wrapped over a boxy striped knit, a check flannel shirt, kilt and furry retro-stye Alpine boots.

Other (sometimes slightly outrageous but very fashion-forward) outerwear includes nylon puffers in amber, blue or red have cooling vents for air flow, by zipping off at the arms and at the back. In addition, padded red-and-black square shaped coats with outside pockets feature graphic logos and open at the sides so the wearer can access pant pockets.

There’s also a puffer cropped in a bolero style to be worn over the top of a winter coat. A taffeta nylon windbreaker is cropped to hood and arms, layered over a wool jacket. Also on display: Shearlings embroidered with three-dimensional florals in crystals and sequins, tech-fabric windbreakers with matching pants and argyle quilted anoraks.

Layer away, guys!
